It took a long time for Samsung to release a major update for Galaxy S2 and now the wait is over. Samsung is rolling out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) for the international version of S2 by region. It seemed that Spain now has the updates, Japan, China and now UK confirmed the update’s availability.
Google announced Jelly Bean of June last year and released minor updates afterward but samsung didn’t catch up with the update and users started to complain recently, with the release of newer models with Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean OS out of the box users Galaxy S2 heat up forums and message boards demanding a followup update for their beloved S2. With the rolling out of this update, though it’s slow, atleast it gave users of the now 2 year old Galaxy S2 a much relief and hopefully contentment.
With android 4.1.2 update, the Galaxy S2 devices will have a refreshed look, new features and enhancement enjoyed by the latest generation of the Galaxy series of smartphones. Features like Google Now and that Project butter feature, Samsung’s latest User Interface (Nature UI) as seen on Galaxy S3 and Note 2, Smartstay feature where the screen’s backlight would remain “ON” when the user is look at the display and Pop-Up-Play that allow users to watch videos in a small rectangular box while doing something else with other apps.
If you can’t wait for the update specific for your country, go to sammobile.com and download the firmware specific for Samsung Galaxy s2 (it doesn’t matter what country they are for as long as you have the same model number GT-I9100) and then you can use Odin to manually update your device.
